Cardinals (Cardinalis)This bird is named for the red robed and red capped Catholic priests of medieval Europe. They live in moderate climates of Europe and North America, tending to nest in one place. The male feeds the female insects and plant seeds when she is nesting and protecting the chicks. Their whistle is very distinctive. |
