Kingfisher (Alcendinidae)The kingfisher has for eons been a symbol of peace and pro-sperity. Mythology links it with the halcyon days of calm sunlit seas. Several species live near water where they boldly dive for fish, insects and amphibians. Some build nests with their bills as deep as ten feet into a stream bank. Parents share equally in the care of their young. |
