Great Horned Owl (Bubo Virginianus)The Great Horn, the largest north American owl, has wing spans up to sixty inches, and eyes nearly twice as large as ours. It’s excellent hearing is due to asymmetrical ears surrounded by soft feathers, funneling into the head. Humans have long believed this owl holds night’s secrets. The Great Horn’s intimacy with the darkness is perhaps why so many cultures associate it with visions and omens. |
