Turtle (Chrysemys)Turtles are long lived, lay many eggs and are adaptable in their diets. Some survive conditions by burrowing in the mud and waiting. The ancient name for North America is Turtle Island— the continent was seen as carried on the turtle’s back. In some Native tradition, turtle people are often history keepers. Like turtles, they’re conservative, and carry tradition on their backs. |
